Liverpool man makes a big contribution to rout

Trent Alexander-Arnold bagged himself a hat trick of assists as the Three Lions helped themselves to 10 goals against lowly San Marino.

Having missed the European championships earlier this year, the young defender has certainly made a strong case for Gareth Southgate to take him to Qatar next Christmas.

He laid on what turned out to be the final three goals of the evening, setting up Tyrone Mings, Tammy Abraham, and Bukayo Saka. The result means England go through to the World Cup finals as group winners, which could bring them a more favourable draw at the tournament.

Jordan Henderson missed out on the game after scoring in the five-nil win over Albania, returning to Anfield for assessment on an injury. Sadio Mane also returned early from Senegal duty, though the results of a rib X-ray seed to be positive.
